Cosmetic treatment to soften and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Anti-wrinkle treatment is a non-surgical and non-invasive cosmetic treatment used to achieve younger looking skin and/or enhance and highlight facial features. The anti-wrinkle product is administered into the muscles of the face, using a very fine needle, causing facial lines or wrinkles to soften or disappear (depending on their depth).
Dentists have experience and knowledge of the oral-facial area and injections, with a comprehensive understanding of facial expression dynamics. They are also designated prescribers, thus able to and legally allowed to hold stock of and prescribe prescription-only drugs for cosmetic purposes. Additionally, dental practices are regulated by the Care Quality Commission ensuring the highest levels of quality and safety are being met.
Following a thorough consultation to discuss your concerns, the dentist will recommend which areas of the face should be treated. This decision will be based on achieving a result that not only you are happy with, but one that also suits your face.
Prior to administering the anti-wrinkle treatment, the skin will be cleansed and disinfected, and the areas being treated will be marked out. The product will then be injected safely and effectively.
You will then be given post-treatment instructions to ensure the best results.
Each appointment, depending on treatment required, will take around 20- 40 minutes.

Any post treatment after-effects should subside within a few hours. The majority of patients require no downtime following treatment and can return to work and normal activities the same day.
Initial results can be seen within 2-6 days, with the full effect visible within 14 days.
Anti-wrinkle treatments are not permanent and usually last around 3 – 4 months. The dentist will discuss your requirements and advise a period between treatments.
Depending on the patient and the area being treated, some mild discomfort is possible. However, this is usually temporary, as the anti-wrinkle treatment solution is injected relatively quickly using a very fine needle.
Having anti-wrinkle treatment is generally safe if administered by an experienced and suitably qualified practitioner. As with any cosmetic treatment, there is a risk of adverse reactions, however these are usually quite rare. You can be rest assured that your treatments would be carried out by a qualified healthcare professional who would know how best to advise or treat you should an adverse reaction occur.
