After graduation from Oxford University, Ms Patel has trained extensively with UK and International leaders in Breast Oncoplastic and Reconstructive surgery. Prior to appointment in Milton Keynes, she completed a prestigious, highly competitive National Oncoplastic TIG fellowship working alongside Breast and Plastic surgeons in several units to embrace the latest techniques in Breast surgery. She offers all options for cancer surgery, working alongside highly experienced multiple speciality professionals to provide a truly tailored approach to your treatment.
Ms Patel has worked alongside internationally respected surgeons, in order to train in all aspects of oncoplastic and reconstructive breast surgery including therapeutic mammaplasty, skin sparing mastectomy for implant and flap reconstruction, breast reductions/mastopexies, nipple reconstruction and areolar tattooing. She also took on a key organisational role for the regional risk reducing mastectomy multidisciplinary meeting, which brought together geneticists, psychologists, oncologists, surgeons and breast reconstruction nurses to allow comprehensive assessment and acceptable options for ladies with high risk of developing breast cancer.
She offers holistic assessment to discover your personal requirements and ensure that psychologically and physically, as well as oncologically, you receive the best possible care. She believes in constantly pushing the limits of what can be achieved with modern methods and technology and collaborates with industry and colleagues to safely bring this to her patients.
Questions are encouraged and she will always give her honest opinion – communication, trust and understanding is key for achieving excellent outcomes and peace of mind.
She has research interests in day case surgery, breast conservation, breast genomic testing, breast reconstruction and integrative cancer care and regularly attends and presents at international conferences in order to stay at the forefront of breast care.
Ms Patel spends both her professional and personal time raising awareness for breast cancer and encouraging individuals to regularly check their breasts. This has included organising and speaking at a John Lewis and Bravissimo breast awareness event at Milton Keynes central shopping centre, as well as regular education for the public e.g. with Open University and healthcare professionals. She has founded tit4tat, a peer support group for younger women with breast cancer and is regular contact with Bosom Pals, the established local award winning patient support charity.
She loves to dance tango and salsa and is out on the waves surfing or powder skiing, whenever she can. She is a foodie and experiments with healthy recipes in the kitchen, under the supervision of her discerning African Grey parrot, Ishq.
