Dr Samer Al-Sabbagh obtained his Medicine Diploma from Damascus Medical School and completed post-graduate training in General Medicine in Damascus University Hospitals, receiving two qualifications in general medicine – GIM. Following this, he was involved in research in diabetic foot disease with Professor Andrew Boulton in Manchester Infirmary between 1999-2001. After obtaining his MRCP UK, he specialised in GIM, diabetes and endocrinology at Ipswich and Cambridge University Hospitals.
In 2009 after CCST, Dr Samer Al-Sabbagh worked in his first consultant post at West Hertfordshire NHS trust before moving to Guy’s and St Thomas NHS Trust. He Joined East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust in 2011 and was appointed to a substantive post at the trust in 2013. Currently, he is the lead for diabetic feet, endocrine oncology and hyponatraemia in East and North Herts and he is actively involved in teaching. My professional memberships are BMA, ABCD, BES.
Dr Samer Al-Sabbagh has special interests in new therapies & technologies in diabetes and endocrine care, and his main endocrine interests are adrenal, pituitary, gonads and thyroid disease.
His diabetes clinics are in renal diabetes and diabetic feet and he is a core member of the diabetes and Endocrine outreach team who has recently won the national QiC award for best in patient initiative in diabetes.
