I am a Consultant Rheumatologist and clinical lead for Ankylosing Spondylitis services at Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore. I also hold appointment of Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer, University College of London. I conduct specialist clinics in rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis and hypermobility. I am currently researching on developing a novel uricase-based therapy for Gout and novel ways of treating rheumatoid arthritis.
My specialist training in the UK includes North East Thames Rheumatology Rotation, Clinical Research Fellowship at Bangor, North Wales and undertaking PhD at Bone and Joint Research Unit, London. I was awarded a clinical excellence award in 2016. I am experienced in managing the whole spectrum of common and uncommon rheumatologic disorders. My special clinical interests include early inflammatory arthritis, early inflammatory low back pain, gout, hypermobility and complex systemic rheumatic diseases.
I find practising rheumatology interesting and rewarding as it demands a broad knowledge of all subspecialties of internal medicine. Rheumatology provides a unique opportunity to diagnose and manage a vast spectrum of multi-system autoimmune disorders requiring regular monitoring and long-term patient-doctor relationship. I find my research on developing new therapies for gout and novel methods of treating rheumatoid arthritis extremely fulfilling due to their potential for excellent effectiveness in disease control.
I am fluent in Hindi and I enjoy painting, badminton and travelling.
